Socialists urge foreign partners to criticize referendum initiative
The Party of Socialists called upon Moldova’s foreign partners to adopt a critical attitude towards the actions of the Alliance for European Integration, which, according to the PSRM, do not lead to the development of democracy, but to its degradation and the consequences for population, the country and the region are unpredictable, Info-Prim Neo reports.
“Though the leaders of the alliance assured they will hold the presidential elections and will bring the political crisis to an end, by their intention to organize a constitutional referendum they stir things up in society. The refusal to obey the law reveals a low level of responsibility and a serious shortage of political logic among the rulers,” reads a statement from the PSRM.
The Socialists say that the authority of the law and the inviolability of the Constitution became for the authorities exchange objects for obtaining political advantages. The development partners must realize that the financial support they provide for developing and modernizing Moldova is used as a resource for usurping the power, says the statement.
The Socialists informed the Council of Europe Secretary General, the U.S. Ambassador and the Head of the EU Delegation to Moldova about their position.
