Socialists seek money for clearing salary arrears at CFM

The Socialist MPs demand that the parliamentary majority should amend the state budget and allocate money for paying the overdue salaries to the employees of the state-run company “Moldova’s Railways” (CFM). In the meeting of the Parliament’s commission on economy, budget and finances that centered on the new draft Code of Railway Transport, the leader of the Party of Socialists Igor Dodon said the people should be helped as they can no longer make a living, IPN reports.

“You should probably amend the budget. Let’s find sources to allocate more money to CFM. If the administration cannot cope, we should allocate money from the state budget and should increase the state-owned enterprise’s share capital, but the employees need to be helped,” stated the MP.

The new draft Code of Railway Transport is to be debated in a Parliament sitting. The Ministry of Infrastructure and Regional Development said the railway infrastructure will continue to belong to the state, while the passenger and freight transportation services can be provided by private operators. A Railway Authority will be created to monitor the sector, to implement policies in the railway sector and to guarantee railway security.
