Socialists protested at CEC, Dodon warns that this is just the beginning

Members of the Party of Socialists on Friday mounted a protest in front of the Central Election Commission, seeking the resignation of its members, whom they accuse of political subordination to the Party of Action and Solidarity. The participants in the protest chanted messages such as "Down with the PAS", "Down with Maia Sandu" and "CEC, resignation". The Socialists noted that the runoff presidential elections, held on November 3, were marked by significant irregularities, IPN reports.

Igor Dodon, former head of state and ex-leader of the PSRM, told the crowd that his party does not recognize Maia Sandu as President and that today's protest is "just the beginning". "Maia Sandu is not our President. The real President is Alexandr Stoianoglo! Today's protest is just the beginning. We will mobilize the entire country in the coming weeks and months," Dodon said, adding that the PSRM is fighting "for the future of children, for families and for Moldova."

At a briefing in Parliament, Deputy Speaker of and member of the PSRM Vlad Bătrîncea announced that the Socialists filed a complaint to the CEC about the violations that allegedly took place during the runoff election. According to Bătrîncea, the PSRM’s lawyers analyzed "hundreds of materials" provided by party observers and consulted reports of the Promo-LEX organization and the OSCE, which signal significant irregularities in the voting process, including the use of administrative resources and intimidation of voters.

Vlad Bătrîncea warned that the PSRM will continue the protests, will challenge the election results in the Constitutional Court, will seek the depoliticization of state institutions and the dismissal of the leadership of "Teleradio-Moldova".
