Socialists protest against privatization of municipal markets in Balti

An initiative group consisting of members of the Party of Socialists and representatives of Balti traders protested Monday in front of the Balti Mayor’s Office against the Balti Municipal Council’s decision to privatize the most important three municipal markets, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting a communiqué from the party. During the event, MP Igor Dodon said the Party of Socialists pleads for keeping the workplaces. He stated he will demand annulling the Balti Municipal Council’s decision to initiate the procedure for privatizing the markets. The sellers handed over to the MP an application signed by 3 000 persons, whereby they ask providing political and legal support for solving the problems they face, including submitting amendments to the Law on Domestic Trade in Parliament. They delegated Igor Dodon to create an initiative group that will conduct talks with the Balti Municipal Council and the Mayor’s Office so that they annul the adopted decision. A petition to condemn the decision of the Balti Municipal Council, signed by 3 000 persons, was also sent to the Balti administration. The protest involved 300 persons, according to the organizers.
