The Socialist group on the Chisinau Municipal Council accuses the Mayor of Chisinau Dorin Chirtoaca of continuing to allow building gas stations in green areas despite the existing moratorium. In a press briefing, Socialist councilors said the mayor challenged the moratorium on the construction of service stations in green areas in the municipality in court, IPN reports.

According to the head of the Socialist group Ion Ceban, the mayor disputed the moratorium on the construction of the gas stations on Nicolae Dimo St, in the park “Alunelul” and near the Circus.

In another development, the Socialist councilors said the casinos in Chisinau should be banned. The Socialist MPs submitted a bill to this effect in Parliament. The casinos can be banned in Chisinau in a week if the Socialist and Liberal councilors take such a decision in the meetings of the Municipal Council.

This February, the Chisinau Municipal Council has placed a moratorium on the construction of several service stations in Chisinau. By this decision, the building of the service stations on the streets Calea Iesilor, Nicolae Dimo, Mihail Sadoveanu, Melestiu and Renasterii was suspended for a period of one year.
