Before the November 21 sitting of Parliament, the Socialists’ leader, MP Igor Dodon said the action is aimed at strengthening the forces that plead for a modern, independent and sovereign Moldova, IPN reports.
Igor Dodon called on the political parties and civil society to join this initiative so as to promote the integration of Moldova into the Russia - Belarus - Kazakhstan Customs Union. Within the campaign “Moldova needs something else!”, the Socialists will stage meetings with the people and will inform them about the risks and consequences of the association with the EU and about the advantages of joining the Russia - Belarus – Kazakhstan Customs Union.
The Socialists’ initiative comes after the Liberal-Democrats launched the National Responsibility Pact for a European Moldova, which is a commitment as regards the European integration course. This pact has been signed by the Democratic Party, the Party of Liberal Reformers and two ex-Presidents of Moldova – Mircea Snegur and Petru Lucinschi.
