Socialists intend to create own faction on CMC

The Socialists have plans to set up their own faction on the Chisinau Municipal Council (CMC). For this purpose, they need one more municipal councilor who would join them, Viorel Melnic, a member of the political executive of the Party of Socialists, said in a news conference, quoted by Info-Prim Neo. The two councilors who recently left the Communist faction and formed the group of Socialists, Petru Dontsov and Elena Danu, denied the reports that they had been bribed or threatened by somebody. “We will file a lawsuit to defend our honor and dignity because we were slandered,” said Petru Dontsov. The Socialist councilors announced they will regularly submit proposals to the Municipal Council, which will be aimed at improving the life of the Chisinau residents. The Socialists said measures should be taken to protect the green areas, combat the unauthorized constructions and maintain public order in the municipality. They proposed constituting people’s guards that would involve students and granting free monthly season tickets for public units of transport to young people. The Socialists also demanded publishing information in Russian and English on the Chisinau City Hall’s website.
