The Party of Socialists does not recognize the election outcome and will challenge it in court, the party’s leader Igor Dodon said, quoted by IPN.
“Early in the morning, we will systematize all the identified violations for challenging the results in a number of polling places. How can they explain the fact that a Liberal candidate in Bacioi had hundreds of stamped ballots on him? There are many such cases. We will struggle for the results of the elections in Chisinau to be annulled,” said Dodon.
The Socialist leader considers the Socialists obtained a good result at national level. “Everyone said that the Socialists’ victory in last year’s parliamentary elections was accidental, that we won owing to the fact that Renato Usatyi was removed from the electoral race. In the local elections, the Socialists won 17% of the vote. I think we won in Chisinau too, but here all the oligarchs joined together against our candidate,” he stated.
The Party of Socialists’ candidate Zinaida Grecheanyi, who lost the mayoral elections in Chisinau according to the preliminary results, thanked those who voted for her. “I thank all those who put their trust in me and urge my supporters not to lose hope. We will continue to struggle and will fulfill our promises,” stated Grecheanyi.
