The MPs of the Party of Socialists requested to question in Parliament representatives of a number of state institutions, including the Government, the Ministry of Education, Culture and Research, the Ministry of the Interior, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration and the Security and Intelligence Service. But the proposals to include the issues in the agenda were rejected by a majority of votes of those who attended the December 1 sitting of Parliament, IPN reports.
Socialist MP Vlad Batrancea said the Ministry of Education should be questioned in connection with the fact that ex-Romanian President Traian Basescu visits education institutions during classes and promotes the idea of Moldova’s union with Romania as part of his political activities.
During the discussions on the issue, Communist leader Vladimir Voronin said that Traian Basescu intends to run in the next presidential elections in Romania and thus campaigns among the Moldovans who have Romanian nationality.
After the proposal was rejected, the Socialist demanded to question the Ministry of the Interior, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Security and Intelligence Service over the ban on entering Moldova imposed on dozens of Russians. According to Socialist MP Vladimir Turcanu, these bans were imposed unreasonably and not only on politicians, but also on historians, journalist and others.
Liberal MP Lilian Carp said that the relevant measures taken by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration are probably the only correct ones of those taken by it. He called on the Ministry to act prudently in this regard.
After this proposal was also rejected, the Socialists requested to question the administration of the Government and the National Agency for Energy Regulation over the exaggerated gas tariffs and the measures taken to decrease them. According to Socialist MP Vladimir Golovatiuc, the gas tariff for the population should be reduced as this is now twice higher than the price of the gas supplied by Russia to Moldova.
Liberal-Democratic MP Tudor Deliu said the Lib-Dems support this initiative, but the hearings should be held next week so that the authorities manage to gather the required information. When put to the vote, the issue was rejected by a majority of votes.
