Socialist MPs on April 7 filed an application to the Constitutional Court (CC), asking that a number of provisions of the Law on State Social Insurance Pensions that took effect this January should be declared unconstitutional, IPN reports.
MP Vladimir Odnostalko said the law adopted last December wasn’t proposed for public debates and was hurried through the parliamentary commissions. As a result, the retirement age was increased, while the indexation mechanism and the process of recalculating pensions are open to question. The Government saved about 240 million lei at the expense of pensioners.
The Socialist MPs consider the provisions of the Law on State Social Insurance Pensions violate the social rights of particular categories of persons and are unconstitutional.
