Socialists boycott Parliamentary session, Head to Constitutional Court

The leader of the parliamentary faction of the Bloc of Communists and Socialists (BCS), Vlad Batrincea, who also serves as the Deputy Speaker of Parliament, announced that Socialist deputies are boycotting today's parliamentary session. He stated that they will go to the Constitutional Court to request a recount of votes from the presidential election and the invalidation of the results, IPN reports.

"Today, at 10:00, parallel to the parliamentary session, the Constitutional Court will convene to decide on the validation or invalidation of the presidential election results. Socialist deputies, including colleagues from the Legal Directorate, will attend the session to present dozens of serious violations in this election, which, in our opinion, influenced the outcome," stated Vlad Batrincea.

According to the BCS faction leader, the Socialists will demand a recount of the votes, claiming discrepancies between the results recorded in the voting station reports and those presented by the Central Election Commission. Additionally, the Socialists plan to stage a protest in front of the Court.

"We believe this election was neither free nor fair. We consider that administrative and public resources were used, which also influenced the outcome. Furthermore, at multiple polling stations, opposition party observers were denied access, violating the principle of free and fair elections", the Socialist deputy added.

Today, the Constitutional Court is holding a session to confirm the election results and validate the mandate of the President of the Republic of Moldova.
