Socialists boycott Parliament sitting

The Socialist MPs of the Bloc of Communists and Socialists left the Parliament’s Thursday sitting, announcing that they will join in the protest staged in support of Igor Dodon. They accused the parliamentary majority of ignoring the opposition’s bills and of turning into a voting machine. Their group mates, the Communists, remained in the hall, IPN reports.

“As of July 11, the BCS group, which is the largest opposition force, being represented by one third of the MPs and representing the will of one third of the citizens, systematically has had its rights to legislative proposal obstructed. In Parliament, there were registered 56 initiatives, two of which are political in character. There are tens of social and economic initiatives that are awaited by the whole country. No initiative has been examined in Parliament and no initiative has been supported,” said Socialist MP Vlad Batrîncea.

He noted that the opposition today is not only ignored, but is also threatened with political revenge, which is illegal. “We have witnessed an impudent attack through televised justice on ex-President Igor Dodon. As the stolen money hasn’t been returned to the country, the real thieves are on the outside and we see selective, arbitrary and politicized justice. At 10am today, in parallel with the Parliament sitting, the Chisinau Court will have a hearing to consider placing Mister Dodon under arrest. This is probably a proof of the fact that someone wants to do justice far from people’s eyes. Evidently, when we are obstructed, threatened and see acts of political revenge, we boycott the sitting and join in the protests,” stated the MP.

The Ciocana Court of Chisinau is today examining the prosecutors’ request to remand President Igor Dodon in custody. The Socialists are protesting in front of the Parliament Building.
