Socialist MP Vlad Batrîncea, who is one of the authors of the challenge against the President’s decree to nominate Igor Grosu for premiership that was filed to the Constitutional Court, said President Maia Sandu mimicked consultations with the parliamentary groups for identifying a candidate for Prime Minister, IPN reports.
In the CC’s meeting, Vlad Batrîncea said President Sandu didn’t mention the name of Igor Grosu in the dialogue she had with the parliamentary parties and she probably knew in advance about Mariana Durleșeteanu’s decision to withdraw her candidacy for Prime Minister.
The Socialist MPs asked the CC to take into account a significant discrepancy between the time when the decree to nominate Igor Grosu for Prime Minister was issued and the official application by which Mariana Durleșteanu withdrew her candidacy. MP Vasile Bolea said Maia Sandu signed the decree on March 16, while Mariana Durleșteanu filed her official application to Parliament on March 17.
Presidential adviser Olesea Stamate said the decree by which Igor Grosu was nominated for Prime Minister is constitutional. President Sandu obeyed the legal and constitutional provisions and Igor Grosu was designated as a result of consultations with the parliamentary groups and after it was ascertained that there was no candidate who would be supported by a parliamentary majority.
The constitutional judges are expected to pronounce the decision on the challenge at 3pm.
