For a period the MPs have voted discussed bills at a particular hour announced by the Speaker of Parliament Andrian Candu. The Socialist MPs do not agree with this for the reason that even if voting at a particular hour is an international practice, Moldova’s Parliament does not fully respect the procedure, IPN reports.

Socialist MP Andrei Neguta expressed his dissatisfaction with the fact that the Speaker announced a particular hour for the vote at the end of the May 13 sitting. “You started to introduce elements used by the European Parliament, concerning voting at a particular hour. There is a difference. The agenda is discussed thoroughly and the MPs can see the examination of the agenda in their office. At a particular hour, they come together in the hall and vote. If we follow this path, all these elements should be included,” he stated.

In this connection, Andrian Candu said the move is aimed at setting a fixed hour for the vote by behavior, not by provisions in the regulations.  “We should probably set an hour that will be like a benchmark, possibly like in the European Parliament – 5pm. If at 1pm we end the debates, the MPs should return to the hall for the vote at 5pm,” he stated.

In the same meeting, the Speaker announced that no plenary sittings will be held next week because a number of MPs go on trips. The next sitting will take place in about two weeks.
