The Socialist councilors on the Chisinau Municipal Council propose placing restrictions on the use of company transport by functionaries of the Chisinau City Hall. These plead for working out regulations that would stipulate the hours during workdays when the vehicles can be used and for what purposes and would clearly specify that the functionaries must get to work by other units of transport than the company cars, IPN reports.
In a news conference, Socialist councilor Dinari Cojocaru said an investigation carried out by the Socialist group revealed that a series of functionaries of the Chisinau City Hall, including division heads, district heads and deputy district heads, use the company cars for personal purposes, including on the weekend.
According to Dinari Cojocaru, the company cars of the City Halls are not used irrationally and regulations are urgently needed in this regard so as to exclude the vicious practices to which the Chisinau City Hall functionaries resorted in time. If a record of the costs for maintaining and fuelling company cars is kept, considerable municipal budget funds will be saved.
Socialist councilor Nichita Turcan said a tradition was created during the mayoralty of Dorin Chirtoaca for his relatives and friends to use the vehicles owned by the municipality for personal goals.
Besides working out the regulations, the Socialist councilors suggest that all the company cars should be outfitted with GPS systems so as to determine their location.
