The candidate for mayor of Chisinau of the Party of Socialists (PSRM) Ion Ceban invites his opponent Andrei Nastase, of the Party “Platform Dignity and Truth”, to debates that will be daily staged near the Triumphal Arch in central Chisinau. The invitation was made in a news conference on May 21, IPN reports.
Ion Ceban said the debates will center strictly on problems related to the capital city and geopolitical issues will be avoided. He suggested starting at midday, but is ready to accept another hour if Andrei Nastase requests.
The candidate said the debates could be moderated by a journalist and made relevant invitations to journalists Dumitru Misin, Gheorghe Gonta, Natalia Morari and Lorena Bogza. The PSRM is ready to provide the logistical support needed for holding the debates.
“Andrei, let’s discuss the city’s problems in detail, each of them,” urged Ion Ceban, saying that if his opponent does not give an answer, he will go to the Triumphal Arch at noon on May 22.
According to the preliminary election results, the candidate of the Party of Socialists Ion Ceban won 40.97% of the poll, while Andrei Nastase, of the Party “Platform Dignity and Truth”– 32.12%. The two will compete for the mayoralty of Chisinau in a runoff vote in two weeks.
