The method of applying for social welfare by citizens has been simplified by amendments approved by the Cabinet to the regulations concerning the method of setting and paying social benefits.
Under the amendments, the request for social welfare can be made on paper, as now, and also over the phone. The incomplete applications will be accepted for examination, but the applicant will have to present the necessary data or documents within five workdays of the registration.
The applications will be registered and examined through the automated information system “Social Assistance”.
Other amendments regulate the mechanism for implementing the agreement of cooperation between the recipient of social welfare and the Social Assistance and Family Protection Division. Thus, the person who will benefit from social welfare will be obliged to use the received financial resources for the benefit of the family, mainly for food, clothing, medical care and schooling of children.
The utilization of the money will be monitored by special local commissions. If the assumed obligations are repeatedly violated, social welfare will not be provided.
