Prime Minister Pavel Filip underlined the importance of signing an agreement on the social protection of Moldovans who work in Israel in a meeting with the Israeli Minister of Immigration and Absorption Sofa Landver in Jerusalem in the evening of November 8. Most of the Moldovans in Israel work in the building sector and elderly home care services and cooperation in these areas should be developed, IPN reports, with reference to the Government’s press service.
In the discussions, Pavel Filip expressed his interest in promoting the political dialogue between the two states and cooperating in different areas, noting that the Moldovan diaspora in Israel and the Jewish community in Moldova play an important role in strengthening the bilateral relations. He referred to the dispute over the former Rabbi Tsirilson Synagogue, saying an amicable settlement was reached and restoration works of the building to keep the historical-architectural value are now possible.
Sofa Landver thanked the Moldovan authorities for the support provided to the Jewish community, noting that her country is ready to advance in implementing projects for the benefit of the citizens of the two states.
Pavel Filip also discussed the bilateral relations with the Vice President of the Knesset Tali Ploskov, who is the co-chairwoman of the Moldovan-Israeli parliamentary friendship group. The officials reiterated their readiness to develop the elations of friendship and cooperation between the two states. Pavel Filip spoke about the reforms done by the Government to improve the business climate and attract foreign investment to the national economy.
The Premier referred also to the measures taken by Moldova to condemn the Holocaust and fight anti-Semitism. He reminded that last July Moldova’s Parliament adopted the declaration on the acceptance of the Final Report of the International Commission on the Holocaust in Romania, while this January the Government approved a plan of action for implementing this. “Each year on January 27 our country celebrates the International Day of Commemoration in Memory of the Victims of the Holocaust and a museum of the history of Jews will be soon opened in Chisinau,” said Pavel Filip.
For her part, Tali Ploskov expressed her readiness to promote the investment possibilities offered by Moldova. She noted that she visited Chisinau at the start of this year and has a special attitude to the Republic of Moldova. She promised to support the signing of an agreement on the social protection of Moldovans who work in Israel. “It is a correct and important decision not only for the Jews, but for everyone. It is a duty before history. I’m confident that together we can implement more projects for the benefit of the citizens of the Republic of Moldova and Israel,” stated the Israeli official.
The interlocutors also conferred on the Moldovan-Israeli cooperation relations in healthcare, defense, internal affairs and culture.
