Social partnership seeks to fight trafficking in humans in Transnistria
Non-governmental organisations working in the Transnistrian region announce the development of the social partnership in fighting trafficking in humans in the region. The NGO Vzaimodeystvie (Interaction) initiated last year and intends to continue a pilot project for the development of the Transnistrian social partnership.
This year, the partner organisations will meet each month to decide on effort strengthening mechanisms to combat this phenomenon.
The series of roundtable meetings will be opened on January 17 in Tiraspol, where the participants will summarise the volunteer initiatives carried out last year. The current situation of trafficking in human beings in the Transnistrian region is to be discussed at a roundtable meeting on February 21 in the same city.
In the following months, the partner organisations will cooperate with the aim to enhance the role of media in helping to resolve burning social issues, and the role of the family in combating social vices. Another goal is to educate tolerance towards the victims of human trafficking, as well as to create conditions for socialisation for the persons in risk groups.
This year’s programme will culminate with a roundtable meeting that will address the issue of domestic violence and methods of fighting it.
Among the prospective partners of the project are local, regional and international organisations like Vzaimodeystvie, Pokolenie Budushego (Future Generation), Rezonans, Okno v Mir (Window to the World), Red Cross, Terre des Hommes Foundation. All of them have been invited to present and implement social projects with impact on the Transnistrian region.
