Social inclusion center to be opened in Magdacesti
About 25 disabled children from socially-vulnerable families will benefit from the services of the Resource Center for Inclusive Education situated in Magdacesti, Criuleni. The center will be opened on December 1 as part of the activities carried out within the Social Inclusion Week (November 29 - December 3), Info-Prim Neo reports.
The Resource Center for Inclusive Education housed by the high school in Magdacesti was planned as a service to support the children with average or minor physical or mental disabilities, children from socially-vulnerable and one-parent families, orphans and children who remained without parental care and children who face problems at school and behavior-related problems, children out of school and who returned to the family from residential institutions.
Parascovia Muntean, social development manager at Keystone Human Services International Moldova, stated for Info-Prim Neo that the aim of this center is to help mainly the children who attend school. “Some of the children can attend only two or three lessons. When they lose interest or do not endure physically, they can go to the center where they will be involved in certain activities,” said Parascovia Muntean.
A team of seven specialists that will include a psychologist, a logopedist and the master of the class of the center’s beneficiaries will be engaged in activities dedicated to children. The team will cooperate with the social worker of the community.
Besides children, the center can be attended by teachers and parents, who will be able to enrich their knowledge with specialized literature.
The Resource Center for Inclusive Education was opened with the support of the Inclusive Community - Moldova Project implemented by Keystone Human Services International Moldova with support from the Open Society Institute in partnership with Soros Foundation, the central and local public authorities and the administration of the Magdacesti high school.
