A working group constituted by the Government will draft a bill on social entrepreneurship. “Motivatie” Association executive director Igor Meriacre, in a news conference at IPN, said the Government is ready to address the problems of civil society and this is a reason for beliving that things will improve.
According to Igor Meriacre, the social entrepreneurship law will enable the nongovernmental organizations to ensure financial stability by creating economic activities. The civil society representatives hope the document will be passed by Parliament by this yearend.
Igor Meriacre said the adoption of the law on social entrepreneurship will contribute to ensuring the financial viability of the NGOs and will offer employment possibilities to persons from socially deprived groups. The number of social services that will solve problems concerning caring, education and involvement of beneficiaries from every organization will increase. Another positive impact of social entrepreneurship is that the incomes obtained by the organization are used for social causes and are not divided among the group members.
The executive director of “Motivatie” Association believes that social problems will exist permanently, but the social entrepreneurship will help reduce them. The marginalized persons will be involved in community activities, while society will become more tolerant. Igor Meriacre underlined that the revenues from social entrepreneurship abroad contribute about 12% to the country’s GDP and such an accomplishment for Moldova would be more than beneficial.
