Social canteens of the capital, which, because of money lack, did not work since year’s beginning, re-start their activity on Wednesday, 1 March. Chisinau Municipal Council (CMC) allotted today (Tuesday) 1,320,000 lei for daily ensuring, next 8 months, with free lunches 500 poor persons. The head of the Social Assistance Department, Eugenia Ceban, that by 100 persons of every district would benefit from free meals, 5 days a week, according to rotation principle. Alone persons who because of objective reasons cannot walk to the canteen will be distributed the meals via the social assistant. The cost of every lunch is 15 lei. Eugenia Ceban also noted that there were concluded already the contracts with selected canteens after the tenders. The lists of beneficiaries were made by the Social Assistance Departments of the districts and coordinated with the district offices. Last year, by 500 poor persons of the city benefited from daily free lunches, financed of the local budget.
