The MPs gave a final reading to the bill to reform the social assistance program proposed by MP Dan Perciun, adopting it. According to the author, the legislative proposal is designed to stimulate the recipients of social benefits who can work to continue work by gradually reducing the size of the social benefit they receive and by limiting the period of stay in the social assistance program, IPN reports.
In accordance with the bill, after six months of non-employment, the social benefit for those who can work will be decreased by 20%, while after nine months by 40%. In a year, if the person didn’t work at all or didn’t work as a day worker in agriculture for at least 40-60 days, the social benefit will be annulled, not yet if the family includes persons with disabilities.
The number of families with children that will be included in the social assistance program will be doubled by raising the minimum guaranteed monthly income for each child and the permitted income ceiling for salary earners with children.
The day workers will also be included in the program so as to encourage them to work legally by enabling them to receive social benefits intended for agriculture workers. The incomes form this activity will not be deduced from the social benefit.
