The concern Regional-Construct is launching a social housing project called “The Social Apartment is a Reality” under the auspices of the United Moldova Party. The project will be implemented in a number of Moldovan settlements and will allow purchasing apartments for € 230-330 per square meter, the party's president Vladimir Turcan told a news conference on April 6, Info-Prim Neo reports. Vladimir Turcan said the financial resources needed to implement the project have been identified and the plots of land have been allocated. The project will involve national companies that produce construction materials and allow the Moldovans working abroad to invest in apartments. Thousands of workplaces will be created. The United Moldova Party will submit a bill to the Parliament, whereby the investors of this project will be provided certain concessions, including fiscal ones. Regional-Construct director Igor Semenovcher, the head of the former Department of Construction and Territorial Development, said the foundation stone of a new quarter with 12,000 social apartments will be laid in Comrat after the holidays. Igor Semenovcher said a similar project existed the previous years, but the Communist Government dropped it as they did not want to build social apartments at a time when people close to the power were to sell about 10,000 apartments for €800-1,300 per square meter. As to the necessary money, Igor Semenovcher said the businessmen will be the major investors. They will sell building materials by 40-50% cheaper. At the same time, a contract for lending to young people that want to buy a house was signed with the Banks Association. The project “The Social Apartment is a Reality” is estimated at €110 million. Social apartments will be erected in Comrat, Balti, Taraclia, Causeni and Orhei.
