Snowstorms expected in Moldova

Forecasters issued a yellow code warning for difficult meteorological conditions for January 10 and 11. According to the State Hydrometeorological Service, the weather during the next few days will be determined by the southern cyclone that leaves Moldova, IPN reports.

There will be heavy snowfalls of 15-20 l/m2, in parts of up to 25 l/m2, on Thursday and Friday. Snowdrifts will form on roads and glazed frost will appear on branches and electrical cables. The northwestern wind will intensify to 15-20 m/s.

In this connection, the National Patrolling Inspectorate calls on the drivers who start a journey to be vigilant and travel at a low speed in localities and onside them and to use the headlights during the day and at night so as to reduce the risk of traffic accidents. When it snows, it is harder to estimate the distance between vehicles.

The drivers who set off on longer distances are recommended to have the reservoir full, water for at least 24 hours, food, a warm blanket, a thermos with tea, the charged cell phone and a medical kit. If need be, the people can call 112 or seek help from the closest patrol team.
