Prime Minister Pavel Filip expressed his dissatisfaction with the fact that the education process was disrupted in a number of localities in the country and some of the children could not get to school.
“Yes, snow fell earlier than we expected, but this does not mean that the schools should be closed. The situation in Moldova is not so disastrous for the schools to be closed. Furthermore, the snowfalls should not affect the functionality of institutions,” the Premier stated in the opening of the November 21 meeting of the Cabinet.
Pavel Filip instructed Minister of Education, Culture and Research Monica Babuc to present information about the schools that stopped work and requested all the Cabinet members to monitor the activity of hospitals and other social institutions.
Owing to the snowy roads, almost 900 children could not reach school on November 20. As the power supply failed, six education institutions in the districts of Călărași, Sângerei and Telenești reduced their program, while three institutions in Sângerei and Telenești districts stopped work.
