Snap mayoral elections will take place in Ialpujeni village of Cimișlia district on October 16 following the death of the incumbent mayor, as the central Election Commission decided on Thursday, IPN reports.
New local elections in Moldova are held two times a year, in spring and in autumn. On October 16, snap mayoral elections will also be held in Sălcuța village of Căușeni district.
On May 29, snap mayoral elections took place in 10 localities. Runoffs were held in three villages in two weeks. The mayoral elections were held to elect new mayors because the incumbents died or resigned, while Lozova village of Strășeni district and Bobeica village of Hâncești district elected the local councils.
