Snap elections would be unfavorable for Moldova, opinion

Eventual snap elections would be unfavorable for the Republic of Moldova in the current domestic and regional situation. The calling of snap elections for forming Parliament would also mean destabilization of the situation in the country, IPN reports.

Political analyst Roman Mihăeș said that if snap elections are called, the Filip Government will be provisional until a new Cabinet is formed and this will be unable to have real talks with the development partners. “No one discusses with such a Government. A Government with plenipotentiary powers is needed, which would swiftly start activities related to Moldova’s partnerships. We need loans, financing, investments,” the pundit stated in the talk show “Fabrika” on Publika TV channel. According to him, the fact that the Constriction allows holding elections only once a year is the biggest problem.

Roman Mihăeș also said the Democratic Party can appointed a Government only with the patriots from the bloc ACUM DA PAS and the Party of Socialists, who would leave these parties in opposition to their policies aimed at “Putinizing” Moldova.

Former deputy minister of the interior Gennady Cosovan noted the destabilization of the situation in Moldova is the main goal of the hostile forces. “When the situation is destabilized, the living standards of the people decrease. The only condition I see is for the pro-European, opposition and government forces to hold discussions under the aegis of the EU, Romania and the U.S. as mediators so that reconciliation is reached based on particular rules that would help rebuilt the Republic of Moldova and the European integration course is enshrined in the Constitution,” he stated.
