Two persons fell victims to reckless smoking in two separate fire events on Wednesday, Info-Prim Neo reports. The first accident occurred in a Chisinau apratment on Sarmizegetusa Street, where the fire crew found the body of the 47-year-old woman who owned the flat. All evidence and circumstances indicated that the possible cause of the fire was a burning cigarette butt. Elsewhere, a 80-year-old man was killed by a fire in his summer kitchen in Darcauti village, Soroca district. The cause of the fire is believed to be the same. The Civil Protection Department reported that 387 fires occurred from the beginning of the year, in which 67 persons were killed. In a press release, the Civil Protection Department urged the population to be more careful in using the fire and observe the basic fire safety rules, like avoid smoking while in bed, stop using self-made electrical devices, and, the most important rule, don't leave children unattended.
