Smart Agriculture Center to provide innovative solutions for agriculture at UTM

A Smart Agriculture Center will work at the Technical University of Moldova (UTM). Students, farmers and specialists will have access to state-of-the-art technologies, such as drones and smart irrigation systems, for productive and sustainable agriculture.

Grant agreements of $200,000 from the United States Agency for International Development and €80,000 from the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation support the equipping of the Smart Agriculture Center with state-of-the-art laboratories.

Secretary of state of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry Iurie Scripnic said that this partnership is an example of a common commitment to development. "This center will be the place where engineering and agricultural science meet to train a new generation of specialists to meet current requirements," said the official.

The creation of the center is the result of a partnership between the Technical University of Moldova, the USAID-funded Rural Competitiveness and Resilience Activity and the Opportunities through Technologies and Innovation in Moldova Project, funded by the Government of Switzerland.
