Smaller fines for not obeying measures to prevent epidemic diseases

The fines imposed for not obeying the epidemic disease prophylaxis, prevention and combating measures and public health measures introduced by the responsible authorities will be decreased. The MPs on November 20 adopted amendments to the Contravention Code in the final reading, IPN reports.

Under the changes, the fine for private individuals will be 2,000 to 5,000 lei, as opposed to 22,500 to 25,000 lei at present. For legal entities, the fine will be 10,000 to 35,000 lei, in contrast to 50,000 to 75,000 lei currently.

If the person commits the same contravention again during one calendar year, the fine will be 15,000 to 25,000 lei, while in the case of legal entities – 50,000 to 75,000 lei.

The fine for the intentional presentation of false or incomplete data or for the refusal to provide the necessary data for filling out the epidemiological form will be diminished from 22,500 -25,000 lei to 2,500 – 7,500 lei.
