Small-scale traffic permits could be obtained easier

“Moldovan and Romanian senior officials will hold a number of meetings during the next two weeks to approve an ordinance aimed at facilitating the obtaining of small-scale traffic permits,” said Petru Litiu, official of the Romanian Consulate in Chisinau. Prime Minister Vlad Filat paid a visit to the Consulate on March 3 to inquire about the procedure for issuing small-scale traffic permits. “We want to know how the Moldovan citizens can obtain these permits,” the Premier said, quoted by Info-Prim Neo. “The Romanian authorities only fulfilled the conditions imposed by the European Union and decided what documents are necessary to prove the reasons why the person needs to go to Romania,” Litiu told the Premier. He said that to be allowed to cross the border, the holder of the small-scale traffic permit must have a passport valid for at least two more years. The persons who will not meet the conditions concerning small-scale traffic will remain without the permit and will be banned from entering Romania for up to five years. A number of 140 applications for being issued with small-scale traffic permits have been submitted to the Romanian Consulate by Wednesday morning. “I'm sure the number of applications will increase the next days,” Petru Litiu said. Vlad Filat did not announce his visit to the Consulate. Petru Litiu said it was an unexpected visit that turned out to be agreeable.
