The bank fraud inquiry commission’s report could be presented at the first autumn sitting of the legislative body, the commission’s chairman Alexandru Slusari stated in the program “About us” on Jurnal TV channel. According to him, the MPs are close to the moment when this report will be presented and two-three more persons could be questioned by then.
“I hope that even if the MPs will go on vacation and we have a difficult period, the report will be completed by September 1. According to the Parliament decision, we must provide it by September 10, but given that parliamentary sittings will not be held in the period, if nothing extraordinary happens we will most probably present the report in the first autumn session of Parliament,” said Alexandru Slusari.
He noted that most of the persons quizzed by the MPs are not sincere in their statements, but they should understand that the task of the commission is not to try, but to politically assess the actions or inaction of high-ranking officials throughout the period. Most probably, all the materials gathered by the commission will be remitted to the Prosecutor’s Office, possibly before the presentation of the report in Parliament.
Economic expert Viorel Gârbu said it will be very hard to restore the stolen bank funds and to track this money down. The Kroll report shows these funds were mingled with ‘clean’ money. “There were used different contracts, instruments that actually can no longer be traced. The Kroll report often says that their investigation stops here and the experts further cannot determine which money was ‘clean’ and which was ‘dirty’,” stated Viorel Gârbu.
According to him, Moldova could at least find out who is to blame for the bank fraud, to determine their whereabouts and to confiscate their property.
