Slovak President to visit Moldova in June
President of Slovakia Ivan Gasparovici will pay an official visit to Moldova in June, following Premier Vasile Tarlev’s visit to Slovakia.
During the Premier’s visit, the Governments of the two states have signed two agreements – on customs cooperation and mutual assistance, and the Programme of cooperation between the Ministry of Education and Youth in Moldova and Slovak Ministry of Education for 2007-2010.
The President of Slovakia underlined that his country is willing to share with Moldova its experience in the field of European integration, by participating as an active member of the visa application Centre, expected to be opened in Chisinau on April 25.
As part of the meeting with his Slovak counterpart Robert Fico, Premier Vasile Tarlev mentioned that, though the balance of trade between the two states stood in 2006 at about MDL 36 mln, increasing by 20% as against 2005, there is room for more. Tarlev referred especially to the organisation of joint business forums, cooperation in such fields as: industry, agrifood, tourism, science and technologies, environment protection, energy, infrastructure. The Prime Minister mentioned cooperation possibilities regarding investments in the wine industry of Moldova and showed interest in studying Slovakia’s experience in processing the raw material for the agro industrial sector, producing and assembling machines and equipment for the food industry.
Also, Premier called Slovakian officials to support the initiative of holding the Days of Slovakia in Moldova and Days of Moldova in Slovakia.
