Slobozia district faces rising unemployment
The number of unemployed who visit the Employment Center in Slobozia, Transnistrian region, is rising relative to last year’s same period. According to the news portal news.es-pmr.com, in the first half of the year 14% more have sought for a job than last year’s same period.
Angelika Markevitch, chief specialist on labor markets and development of labor programs of the Regional Analysis Center, mentioned that around 1,300 people submitted applications for a job, and over 700 were registered as unemployed.
“Approximately 50% of the unemployed are people with ages between 41 and 57. One fifth of unemployed is youth with ages between 16 and 30, who have a General Education or Middle School degree”, stated Angelika Markevitch.
The specialist added that currently the most demanded are mechanics, tailors, agricultural firm workers, nurses, and teachers. However, the unemployed hardly accept any jobs that are far from their home, or if they require a special work schedule.
The Employment Center in Slobozia has 700 vacant jobs in the database. In the first half of the year 79 individuals were hired in catering, industrial jobs, and healthcare.
