Sixty Chisinau families not yet connected to power supply
Sixty families in Chisinau have been disconnected from the supply of electricity after the strong winds last weekend damaged a number of cables, head of the municipal Emergencies Division Iurie Gustiuc said in Monday’s meeting of City Hall officials, Info-Prim Neo reports.
More than 260 persons in the municipality of Chisinau have been cut off. Almost all the suburban settlements that were plunged into darkness were connected to the electric power supply on February 13, except for Tohatin and Colonita, where the works continued this morning.
Eliferii Haruta, head of the Green Areas Association, said about 200 trees had been downed by the high winds during the last two days.
The thermoelectric power plants of SA Termocom located in Tohatin and Ghidighici had been in darkness for five hours. The supplier’s head Mihai Cernei said time is needed to fully restore the supply of heat.
Mayor General of Chisinau Dorin Chirtoaca instructed the municipal subdivisions to take steps to remove all the trees and poles downed by the wind. If the advertising companies do not repair the damaged billboards in 24 hours, they will be taken down.
The mayor ordered compiling the list of families affected by the strong winds. A part of them will receive support from the municipal reserve fund.
