Sixth traditional Ping-Pong tournament staged at “Don Bosco” Center

Children from socially deprived families, beneficiaries of the services provided by the Chisinau-based Center “Don Bosco”, and children from other centers or schools will take part in the traditional Ping-Pong tournament that is staged at “Don Bosco” for the sixth time. The competition is organized under the auspices of the ambassadors of Hungary, Poland, Italy, Turkey and OSCE in Chisinau, IPN reports.

Hungarian Ambassador Mátyás Szilágyi told a news conference that the children from socially disadvantaged families are invited to take part in this tournament on February 21. The organization of the children’s football championship in May, with the involvement of a number of embassies, is another very good tradition. It also aims to bring together more children and to make them socialize between them.

Poland’s Ambassador Artur Michalski said that Poland has contributed to the implementation of this project carried out by the Center “Don Bosco” from the very beginning.  “A lot of young people took part in these tournaments and for many of them this activity brought about changes in their life,” he stated.

Turkish Ambassador Mehmet Selim Kartal said the Embassy of Turkey took part in this tournament for the first time last year. “This year we decided to also take part in the organization of the event as we realized its noble goal. We hope that our participation in its organization will make this event more colorful,” he stated.

The Chisinau-based Center “Don Bosco” forms part of the Society of Saint Francisc de Sales, which is a congregation of the Catholic Church that devotes itself fully to the young people, especially the poor and abandoned ones. Its goal is to bring up the youth through education.
