The Chisinau District Electoral Council on April 11 registered the sixth applicant as a runner in the May 20 mayoral elections. This is the Party of Socialists’ candidate Ion Ceban, who filed the required documents a day ago, IPN reports.

The first five registered candidates are: Vasile Costiuc, of the Party “Democracy at Home”; Andrei Nastase, the common candidate of the Party “Platform Dignity and Truth” and the Party “Action and Solidarity”; Alexandr Rosko, of the Party “Our Home - Moldova”; Reghina Apostolova, of the Shor Party, and Valeriu Munteanu, of the Liberal Party.

Subscription lists for collecting signatures from supporters were requested by three applicants who intend to run as independents. These are Sergiu Tofilat, Maia Laguta and Silvia Radu. To be registered as election runners, they must collect at least 10,000 signatures.

The deadline for submissions is April 19.
