Six tourist routes with a length of four to 23 km that embrace four localities of the Orheiul Vechi cultural-natural reserve were created for pedestrian and cycling tourists. The routes enable noticing over 100 species of birds. Three of the routes are in the valley of the Răut River – one in the meadow and two in the forests, IPN reports.
In the inaugural ceremony, Elena Scobioală, of the Ecological Movement of Moldova, said the scenic routes cross the localities Trebujeni, Piatra, Morovaia and Furceni. The visitors are urged to cover them and to observe the birds in the meadow, forests, waters, villages and farmland of the reserve. There are numerous tourist attractions and pensions that enable the visitors to familiarize themselves with the natural, cultural and gastronomical potential of the reserve. Informative posters and maps with the itineraries were placed along the routes.
“In Orheiul Vechi, we have a high density of natural features that together create a unique scenery. We must protect and conserve this landscape,” stated Elena Scobială.
According to Sergiu Popescu, director of the Orheiul Vechi cultural-natural reserve, the six routes enables to realize the tourist, cultural and natural heritage of the area. “The visitors of the reserve, who can be citizens of the Republic of Moldova and foreigners, will benefit from the result of this project. Everyone could admire the natural scenery of Orheiului Vechi,” he stated.
Secretary of state at the Ministry of Education, Culture and Research Andrei Chistol said that besides these historical monuments and natural features we have, we should also stage a multitude of events and activities that would help develop the natural and historical-cultural heritage.
