Six settlements still without power

Six settlements in Moldova are still without electricity, while another 24 are partially lacking power supply. The strong wind on 23-24 March has affected the medium tension networks and left in the dark thousands of families in different zones of Moldova, Info-Prim Neo reports. According to estimations, 6150 roof slates, 127 sq. m of glass, one thousand sq. m of polyethylene, fences and even walls, have been destroyed. According to the Department for Emergency Situations, 150 settlements in all were affected as a result of calamities. The 72 specialized teams, numbering 216 persons, and 65 technical units managed to liquidate the consequences of the destruction caused by the strong wind and to connect 120 settlements to the power source. Among the settlements that suffered as a result of the strong wind are several from Chisinau municipality, but also districts in the city. As interim head of the Emergency Situations Department, Aureliu Climasevschi said, Vadul lui Voda town and Cruzesti village were partially disconnected from the energy supply. Sangera town, Dobrogea village and several houses located on Muncesti and Bacioi streets in Botanica district were left without power. At the same time, Codru town and a part of Durlesti town, Ghidighici and Condrita villages have been disrrupted from the power supply network. Cricova town, Ciorescu, Fauresti and Goieni villages have been partially disconnected. Later, all the settlements and districts were connected to the power network. According to Climasevschi, in Stauceni village, the strong wind tore off the roof of a house, while on Gagarin Blvd a downed billboard damaged a “Mercedes” car. There were also knocked down many trees. The head of the Emergency Situations Department affirmed that at the moment all the consequences of the calamity were removed.
