A criminal group composed of six persons will stand trial for theft. They were caught by the police after they committed a series of robberies, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting the Ministry of Internal Affairs. Sources in the Ministry said that the six offenders aged between 17 and 36 are from Stefan–Voda and Straseni districts and from Chisinau and have been earlier tried for similar offences. On the night of June 28, the group broke in a house in Straseni town, threatened the owner of the house with a knife and tried to asphyxiate him with a polyethylene bag. The man told them were he kept the money and the valuable things. According to the police, the robbers caused the man damage estimated at 31,000 lei. The police also established that the group robbed one more house and committed a banditry attack of a woman from whom they stole goods worth about 24,000 lei. The offenders admitted their guilt. They are liable to imprisonment of 8 to 15 years or fine of 20,000 to 100,000 lei.
