Six persons of the group that was charged with the planning of the assassination of the leader of the Democratic Party Vlad Plahotniuc were convicted. The Centru branch of the Court of Chisinau municipality sentenced the organizer to 20 years in jail, while the other five members got jail terms of three, five, six, eight and 11 years. The sentences can be challenged in the Appeals Court, IPN reports.
Last October, the prosecutors sent to court the case against seven members accused of involvement in the planning of the murder of the Democratic leader Vlad Plahotniuc. On January 30, a culprit who cooperated with the investigators learned his sentence. The Centru branch of the Court of Chisinau municipality sentenced him to five years and four months in jail.
Last April, 17 persons were arrested – nine in Ukraine and eight in Moldova - on suspicion that they intended to execute a murder by order. It was established that the murder was ordered by Grigore Caramalac, alias Bulgaru.
