Two women and four children died in a house fire in Trinca village of Edinet district on the night of January 31. Though the fire was localized in ten minutes, the firemen could not save the two women aged 28 and 36 and the four minors aged 6, 7, 9 and 11. There were five more persons in an annex, but these weren’t hurt. Prime Minister Pavel Filip called an emergency meeting where he instructed carrying out awareness-raising campaigns to inform the people about the risk of fires, IPN reports.

According to the Civil Protection and Emergencies Service, the preliminary examinations showed the heating stove was used incorrectly. The fire extended quickly because there were flammable materials in the house such as carpets, curtains and polystyrene, with which the ceiling was insulated. In one of the rooms, there was a gas cylinder connected to the stove and, most probably, there had also been an accumulation of gas inside. Psychologists of the Emergencies Service went to the scene to provide psychological assistance to the relatives and close persons of those who died.

The Premier summoned an emergency meeting to discuss this tragic case. He ordered that financial resources should be allocated from the national and local social funds for organizing the funerals. Pavel Filip also instructed launching awareness-raising campaigns to inform the people about the risks faced when using alternative heating sources and the necessity of obeying the anti-fire rules.
