Six orphans from Clococenii-Vechi village of Glodeni district were presented with a house bought by a family from Chisinau. The ownership documents were signed at the notary on March 28 and the children became lawful owners, IPN reports.

The children left the parental home together with their mother, who divorced her aggressive husband. Since then they lived in rented accommodation. A year ago, when the woman died, the children of the Gurin family – five boys and a girl aged between 6 and 19 – moved to a house in Clococenii-Vechi that was offered for sale. The owner allowed them to live there free until they could buy their own house. The children lived on the salary of the eldest brother and the monthly benefit of 500 lei per child provided by the state. It wasn’t at all easy, but the youngest children continued to go to school. Two brothers aged 17 and 18 went to work abroad.

Informed by a neighbor of the children, the women’s portal www.thewoman.md last December launched a charity campaign and collected foods, clothes and money for them within it. Campaign coordinator Alina Matei said a public mass media figure was receptive to the portal’s message and decided to help the children.

“The children remained alone, disoriented and scared. We started this campaign last December. They needed practically everything – food, money, furniture and domestic appliances. We didn’t hope to buy a house, but this public person decided to make the children happy,” stated Alina Matei.

The family of the TV presenter who made the donation insisted on anonymity. “I couldn’t sleep for many nights as I thought how we could help them. It’s hard to take such a decision. One needs courage. I now have very powerful feelings,” said the TV star. The family intends to keep in tough with the children and to visit and help them with advice.
