Six persons succumbed to COVID-19 on May 18. Among the victims is a doctor. The death toll now stands at 217. The data were presented by Konstantin Rymish, secretary of state at the Ministry of Health, Labor and Social Protection, IPN reports.

Seventy-eight new infections with COVID-19, five of which among healthcare workers, were recorded on May 18 after processing 508 samples.

Seventeen persons recovered and were discharged from the hospital. As many as 256 infected persons are in a serious state, with 19 of these being put on a ventilator.

The infections with COVID-19 in Moldova total 6,138 at present. Of the total number, 3,496 are active cases. Konstantin Rymish called on the people to obey the measures imposed by the authorities in connection with the public health emergency.
