The season tickets for six months for travelling by urban public transport in the municipality of Chisinau are the most popular ones. As the demand is great, an additional order for such season tickets was made, IPN quoted mayor general Ion Ceban as saying in the ordinary meeting of officials of municipal services.

According to the mayor, over 32,000 such season tickets have been sold since July 1, when the fare was raised, as opposed to 3,000-4,000 monthly season tickets when the trolleybus and bus fares were 2 and 3 lei.

Measures are being taken to ensure these season tickets are also available from post offices.

Ion Ceban noted that the number of trips by public transport rose by 7% compared with last year and this is also due to the fact that new buses and trolleybuses run on the streets of Chisinau. New units of transport will be bought at the beginning of next year. Lanes dedicated to public transport are being set up.

The mayor also said that the buses and trolleybuses will be examined as passengers complained that the air conditioning systems in many of them do not work. The 240 buses and trolleybuses that were purchased by the municipality in the recent past have air conditioning systems and the drivers know about this. Attempts were made to install air conditioning systems in the old units of transport, but these failed due to technical glitches.
