A man aged 37 is suspected of severely beating a girl of only six months called Anastasia. The child was admitted to the intensive care section of the Mother and Child Center in Tiraspol town in a critical state, IPN reports.

Anastasia is the only patient of such an early age in the section given the quarantine instituted there. According to the section’s chief doctor Aliona Dubrovina, the girl was brought in a very serious state. The diagnosis made as a result of a computerized tomography scan is: multiple skull fractures, concussion and convulsive syndrome. A positive tendency is witnessed now that the girl was operated.

The investigation committee of the Transnistrian region is examining the incident. According to the preliminary results, the child was beaten by her stepfather aged 37 on January 20. On that day, the suspect, who is a resident of Bender town and has a criminal record, was under the influence of alcohol. After being maltreated, the girl had stayed at home for several days and an ambulance was called only after she had several convulsive fits.
