Moldovan boxers are writing history at the European Union Championship that takes place between August 7 and 17 in Sofia, Bulgaria. Alexandru Riscan, Veaceslav Gojan, Dumitru Galagot, Vasile Belous, Victor Carapcevschi and Victor Ialimov have reached the semifinals, which will take place on Friday, August 15, IPN reports.

In the quarter-finals the Moldovans have eliminated athletes from Italy, Belgium, Latvia, Ireland, England and Bulgaria.

Veaceslav Gojan, bronze winner in the 2008 Olympics, will meet Hungary's Galosh in the semifinals.
