An earthquake measuring 6 degrees on the Richter scale struck Moldova on the night of September 24, at 02:11am. This occurred in the Romanian region Vrancea.
Head of the Experimental Seismology Center of the Institute of Geology and Seismology of Chisinau Ion Ilies has told IPN that the quake was recorded at a depth of 82 km, while in Chisinau it was felt with the intensity of 6 degrees on a scale of 12.
It lasted for about 15 seconds. No aftershocks were expected and no emergencies were reported .
The last quake with a comparable intensity occurred in November 2014, when this measured 5.7 degrees on the Richter scale.
