Six Chisinau schools will test a new money management system
Six schools in Chisinau expressed their intention to test a new
procedure for managing money proposed by the municipality. Until the
middlle of next week, the managers of the given institutions will submit
applications to the General Division of Education, Youth and Sport or to
the head of the mayor general's administration, Info-Prim Neo reports.
The switch by the Chisinau schools and kindergartens to financial
autonomy was discussed in a meeting of Mayor Dorin Chirtoaca and the
heads of education institutions on Saturday.
The local authorities propose that the money allocated for repairing
schools and kindergartens should be managed by the heads of the
institutions, withiut involving the sector education divisions. The
money will be distributed according to the number of students and the
buildings' state.
According to Mayor Dorin Chirtoaca, this money management system is
implemented in Georgia, where it proved its effectiveness. Every
instituton will hold by itself public procurement tender contests and
will bear responsibility for distributing the money. The mayor is
convinced that this way the schools will tend to save money.
The spending on education this year is 939 million lei, which is almost
half of the budget revenues.
